This study, based in Denmark, examines data from 1972 through 2016 and found direct associations between cannabis use disorder (CUD) and schizophrenia. The authors found the proportion of cases of schizophrenia associated with CUD increased 3- to 4-fold during the prior two decades, supporting a causal association between CUD and schizophrenia.
