Prevalence and Correlates of Medicinal Cannabis Use Among Adolescents

A study of students in grades 9-12 in Canada shows that students who reported medicinal cannabis use (MCU) were found to be at higher risk for unhealthy behaviors than students who reported recreational cannabis use (RCU). Compared to the RCU group, the MCU group reported more frequent use of cannabis, vaping, tobacco use, recreational use of other drugs, and medicinal use of sedatives. These results would likely vary if conducted in states with legalized recreational marijuana.
