It is time to end the practice of illustrating all marijuana-related news and educational materials with the same outdated photos of a marijuana plant or leaf.

THC is the mind-altering ingredient in marijuana that affects behavior and alters perception, mood or consciousness. The public deserves to be informed about the wide variety of products and THC potencies sold in marijuana markets.

State laws differ on individual serving sizes of THC, total THC limits, packaging, warnings, product types ,and whether or not a THC marking or symbol is required. Further, the trend in commercialized marijuana markets is toward concentrated forms of active ingredients (cannabinoids) — in particular, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In some state markets, sales of concentrated products are rising rapidly.

The photo galleries were created to accurately depict the wide array of marijuana products. We encourage the media and youth serving organizations educating about today’s marijuana to use these photographs about commercialized marijuana and the methods of intake and potencies. The public… including parents, educators, employers, policymakers and healthcare workers-benefit from an accurate portrayal of marijuana products sold in states where marijuana is legal.
