Association between cannabis use disorder and schizophrenia stronger in young males than in females

This research finds that young males may have a higher susceptibility to the effects of cannabis on the development of schizophrenia. It further states that at a population level, assuming a causal relationship, preventing Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) could potentially prevent a significant portion of schizophrenia cases among young males. Specifically, the statement suggests that as much as one-fifth of cases of schizophrenia in this demographic might be prevented by averting CUD.
